Masanori Akiba (CEO Partner)
■Joined The Sanwa Bank (currently, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.) in April 1982. Specialized in project finance (PF) for 15 years and played a leading role in establishing the PF business of the Bank in Asia. He was named an Emerging Market Superstar by Global Finance magazine in 1995 and was awarded Deal of the Year by Project Finance International magazine in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2001. He is a pioneer in PF market development in Japan.
In the area of power generation, he has been involved in the development of 18 domestic and international power-generation projects exceeding 8,000 MW in total as financial advisor or arranger. Examples include Japan’s first project finance deal-Nakayama Joint Power Plant/Nakayama Nagoya Joint Power Plant (149 MW×2, awarded Arranger of the Year in 1999)-and Shinko Kobe Power Plant (700 MW×2, awarded Deal of the Year in 2001).
Led corporate turnaround operations from 2001 to September 2004 in the Corporate Advisory Department, which was established to provide management assistance to the Bank’s major loan clients.
■Participated as a founding partner in establishing an independent private equity fund in Japan in October 2004.
■Formed Integrity Partners in May 2007 and became CEO Partner.
■Graduated from the School of Political Science and Economics of Waseda University and received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Yuji Yoshioka (Partner)
■Joined The Sanwa Bank (currently, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.) in April 1992. Engaged in its structured finance business at the Hong Kong Branch after working for domestic branches. Established an extensive track record in advisory at the M&A Advisory Division, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Co., Ltd. (currently, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co., Ltd.). Supported customers’ business strategies including M&As, group realignments, funding, asset efficiency improvements, privatized business acquisitions, and business turnarounds, all of which are indispensable to modern-day corporate business strategies.
■Record of major transactions in infrastructure-related finance advisory services includes acquisition of MSK, an independent module manufacturer in Japan, by Suntech Power Holdings, provision of asset finance based on Hong Kong electric power plant construction loan claims, acquisition of 100% stake in Hitachi Plant Technologies, Ltd. by Hitachi, privatization of Sendai City gas business, acquisition of a stake in Universal Shipbuilding by JFE, 100% consolidation of Hakodate Dock by Namura Shipbuilding, and acquisition of ISP business by Tokyo Electric Power.
